VariQ is pleased to announce that it has been awarded Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Small Business Award for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019. The Annual Small Business Awards Program was established by DHS Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) to recognize small businesses that have shown outstanding performance in advancing the Department’s mission.

VariQ received the award in recognition of its provision of all lifecycle support services for new capability releases for the Office of Biometric Identity Management’s (OBIM) Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT). IDENT is a department-wide system for the storage and processing of biometric and associated biographic information that contains 200+ million unique identities and processes over 300,000 biometric transactions a day. VariQ developed system maintenance releases and 39 Impact Assessments, which resulted in high visibility critical system improvement releases as well as cost reductions and improved capacity.

CEO Ben Edson commented, “It was an honor to receive the DHS Small Business Award for the 2019 Fiscal Year, in recognition of VariQ’s commitment to excellence in the services that we provided for the Department of Homeland Security.”
