VariQ manages complex, value-added Microsoft (MS) technology projects supporting the development of health care-related tools and solutions, allowing NIH to manage and track health care-related activities on a national and global level. VariQ provides both Premier Services and Consulting Services in support of Microsoft server products (Windows, Active Directory, Exchange, Lync, SharePoint, Dynamics, Hyper-V, Forefront, and System Center) as well as Cloud services (Office 365, Azure, RAP as a Service). We provide this support through work orders with various HHS agencies, including the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and numerous NIH Offices, Institutes and Centers. Our efforts help HHS to solve operational and business challenges and gain efficiency using the latest technology from MS.

VariQ has performed substantial software application development for the NIH U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR). The work has been coded in C# using the ASP.NET framework on a SharePoint platform. Projects included developing a management dashboard that provides CDC executives with situational awareness and decision support pertaining to public health threats (e.g. Ebola outbreaks) and emergency response operations. By clicking on the geospatially-based representation of an event, the user is shown a synopsis of the situation and presented options for delving deeper to explore associated data tables, charts, reports, or maps housed within the dashboard. The solution, which runs on SharePoint and SQL Server, is managed as part of the Microsoft Azure Cloud service offering, and includes geographic information system (GIS) components. The project objectives were to provide CDC executives with real-time information and dynamic data visualization for decision support, and to provide the broader public health community with a common platform to for sharing critical information easily and securely at any time, from any location.
