VariQ is a privately-held services company with a focus on the design, implementation, and support of information technology solutions for Federal, State, and commercial clients. Since establishing the company in 2003, VariQ’s leadership (See: Management Team) has invested in its infrastructure and management systems and expanded its financial and staffing capacity to accommodate rapid growth. VariQ has repeatedly ranked among the fastest growing privately held firms in the U.S. (Inc. Magazine, 2010, 2011, 2012).
Ben Edson, the company founder and CEO, formed the company while supporting the U.S. Congress’ IT Security department as its Subject Matter Expert in Cyber Security. During this time, he led the design, and implementation of the first enterprise endpoint security solution for this customer. He also introduced virtualization into the organization in 2004 and helped define a cyber-security roadmap which was largely adopted in 2007.
VariQ employs process-improvement systems to manage risk while maximizing organizational return on investment. Its quality-management system has been independently accredited at both Maturity Level 2 of the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) ® and the ISO 9001:2008 standard, and its performance-management system comports to the ANSI guidelines for Earned Value Management Systems.
VariQ complements those management credentials with technical capability through strategic partnership agreements with companies such as Microsoft and Symantec. Those arrangements give VariQ special access to products, training, documentation, and expert advice from their product engineers, enabling VariQ to deliver critical, high-demand, secure technical solutions such as Virtualization, Endpoint Protection, Client Management and Security Information and Event Management, and Program Management support.
